Philippine Ambassador Ezzedin Tago Gives a Presentation During the ASEAN Committee In Cairo & Egyptian Council For Foreign Affairs Seminar

On 24 April 2024, the Philippine Ambassador to Egypt, Mr. Ezzedin H. Tago, participated in a joint seminar organized by the ASEAN Committee in Cairo (ACC) and the Egyptian Council for Foreign Affairs (ECFA) at the Diplomatic Club in Downtown Cairo. He delivered a 15-minute presentation on "ASEAN's Engagement with External Partners" and highlighted ASEAN's dialogue cooperation and partnerships with countries, regional and international organizations, and other institutions.


        The day-long seminar also included presentations on ASEAN, its outlook on the greater Indo-Pacific region, economic integration, and socio-cultural cooperation fields, which ACC Heads of Missions delivered. The topics presented by ECFA members and Egyptian government officials included Egypt's trade and investment cooperation mechanisms, cultural and people-to-people cooperation, and other regional issues and political developments.


         Former Foreign Minister of Egypt Nabil Fahmy, Former Foreign Minister of Egypt and current ECFA Chairperson Mohamed El-Orabi, the Secretary General of ECFA Ambassador Ezzat Saad and other ECFA members, current and past officials of the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, academics, and other government officials participated.


There are nine ASEAN resident missions in Egypt: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, and Vietnam.


The ACC-ECFA seminar was a testament to the collaborative spirit between ASEAN and Egypt, aiming to create awareness and promote active collaboration on matters of common interest in the economic, social, cultural and political fields. END.
