Legalization of Documents

GENERAL INFORMATION​

  1. Appointments are required for notarial services (Book Appointment). Applicants are advised to review the applicable requirements and prepare all necessary documents before scheduling an appointment.

  2. As a general rule, every person who will execute or sign the document must personally appear before the Consular Officer. For Powers of Attorney, however, the Attorney-in-Fact does not need to be present and may sign the document after it has been released.

  3. For documents requiring witnesses, applicants may bring their own two (2) witnesses, if necessary. Those who do not have witnesses may request fellow Filipinos present at the Embassy during their appointment to serve as witnesses.

DOCUMENTS FOR ACKNOWLEDGMENT

This type of notarization generally covers Special Powers of Attorney, General Powers of Attorney, Deeds of Sale, Deeds of Donation, Contracts, SSS/GSIS forms, Extrajudicial Settlements, and other similar instruments.

 

Requirements:​

  1. Personal appearance of all required signatories.

  2. The original document and a photocopy of the complete document, including all annexes or attachments, and additional copies, if applicable, and one (1) set of the complete documents and its attachments to be retained by the Embassy for its records.

  3. One (1) original valid ID and one (1) photocopy of the ID for each person executing the document.

 

DOCUMENTS FOR JURAT

A Jurat is generally applicable to Affidavits of Support and Consent, Parental Travel Permits, Complaints, Applications for Marriage License, Oaths of Professionals, and other documents requiring the affiant to swear to or affirm the contents before the Consular Officer.

Requirements:

  1. Personal appearance of all required signatories/affiants.

  2. The original document and a photocopy of the complete document, including all annexes or attachments. and additional copies, if applicable, and one (1) set of the complete documents and its attachments to be retained by the Embassy for its records.

  3. The document must be unsigned when presented and must be executed in the presence of the Consular Officer.

  4. One (1) original valid ID and one (1) photocopy of the ID for each person executing the document.
