20 August 2026- Ambassador Charmaine Rowena C. Aviquivil paid a courtesy call on Alexandria Governor Engr. Ayman Attia who received the Ambassador together with Deputy Governor Dr. Amira Yassin.
During the meeting, Governor Attia shared an overview of Alexandria’s economy and its important role in trade, education, and business sectors. He highlighted the city’s strategic position as a major Mediterranean port and its potential for further engagement with international partners.
The two sides exchanged views on potential linkages between the Philippine and Alexandrian business sectors, as well as opportunities for cultural initiatives and closer local-level partnerships and exchanges in areas of mutual interest.
Amb. Aviquivil expressed her appreciation to Governor Attia for the warm welcome extended to Filipinos in Alexandria and for the city’s hospitality toward the Filipino community. She also welcomed the Governor’s insights on Alexandria’s development and expressed the Philippine Embassy’s interest in identifying practical and mutually beneficial activities that could further strengthen ties between the Philippines and Alexandria.
The courtesy call forms part of the Embassy’s continuing efforts to deepen Philippine-Egyptian relations at the local level and expand opportunities for cooperation. END.
