Dual Citizenship

Pursuant to R.A. 9225, natural-born citizens of the Philippines who have become citizens of another country through naturalization, shall be deemed not to have lost their Philippine citizenship. They shall retain or reacquire their Philippine citizenship upon taking the Oath of Allegiance to the Philippines.

Under this Act, unmarried minor children (below 18 years of age) of those who retain /reacquire Philippine citizenship, may also acquire Philippine citizenship provided they are included in the original petition of their parents.

If at the time of birth of the child either parent was/is a Filipino, the Report of Birth should be filed with proof that the Filipino parent had not acquired any foreign citizenship.

REQUIREMENTS

REACQUISITION/RETENTION OF PHILIPPINE CITIZENSHIP

Under Republic Act 9225

1.  Confirmed appointment (Book Appointment)

2.  Accomplished Petition form

3.  PSA Birth Certificate (original and 2 photocopies)

4.  If married, PSA Marriage Certificate

5.  Nine (9) passport-sized photographs- front view with white background

6.  Three (3) photocopies of Philippine passport

7.  Three (3) photocopies of foreign passport, if not available, three (3) photocopies of Foreign National ID with English translation (or equivalent document)

8.  Three (3) photocopies of Certificate of Egyptian Citizenship with English translation (or equivalent certificate if applicant is a citizen of another country)

 

Additional Requirements

  • Personal appearance to take the Oath of Allegiance

  • If filing with minor dependent children:

           Three (3) passport size pictures

           File the Report of Birth

 

Fees:

Principal applicant- USD50.00

Dependent minor child- USD25.00 per child

If at the time of birth of the child either parent was/is a Filipino, the Report of Birth should be filed with proof that the Filipino parent had not acquired any foreign citizenship.
