The Philippines participates in Ramadan Nights in cooperation with the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and the Cairo Opera House

THE PHILIPPINES PARTICIPATES IN RAMADAN NIGHTS 2026 IN COOPERATION WITH THE EGYPTIAN MINISTRY OF CULTURE AND THE CAIRO OPERA HOUSE


08 March 2026 - The Philippines participated in this year’s Ramadan Nights held at the Cairo Opera House by the invitation of the Ministry of Culture. The Ramadan Nights cultural festival is an annual event during Ramadan that features performances such as musical bands, traditional dances and songs that show the traditions and cultures of participating countries.


Performers for this year were members of the Filipino community in Egypt sponsored by the Philippine Embassy. During her opening remarks, Chargé d’ affaires, a.i., Ms. Crystal Ann S. Dunuan expressed her gratitude to the Ministry of Culture and the Cairo Opera House for inviting the Philippines to once again participate in the activity. She also underscored the celebration of the 80th anniversary of the diplomatic relations of Egypt and the Philippines, highlighting decades of friendship, cooperation, and mutual support.


The event showcased the rich culture of the Philippines through performances by members of the Filipino Community in Egypt, including students, Filipino spouses of Egyptians, and professionals from various fields. The performances featured both modern and classic Filipino music and dance.


The night’s performances began with nine-year old Mohamad Siano Campong who recited verses from the Quran followed by medleys and OPM songs sung by the Six O’clock Ensemble and The Rhythm and Move Co.. There were also featured solo performances from Ms. Felomila Sowter, Ms. Judith Montaño, Ms. Jovelyn Dela Cruz, Ms. Yara Mapandi, Ms. Raquel Cario and Ms. Samantha Wanis. Meanwhile, dance groups performed the traditional bulaklakan and pamaypay dances, as well as a modern dance to the song “Dahil Sayo.” The collective Filipino cultural group was organized by stage directors, Mr. Antonio Jr. Carreon and Ms. Grace Quiachon.


There were around 200 who attended the show. The audience were composed of officials of Cairo Opera House, members of the Filipino community, locals and other guests. END
