PH OFFICIALS MEET WITH MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE

22 January 2026 - Undersecretary Zamzamin Ampatuan, of the Department of Agriculture, accompanied by Charge d’Affaires Ms. Crystal Ann S. Dunuan, called on Engr. Alaa Farouk, Egyptian Minister of Agriculture. During the short meeting, Min. Farouk and Usec. Ampatuan discussed strategies to increase the trade of agricultural products between the Philippines and Egypt. After the visit, Usec. Ampatuan and Ms. Dunuan also met with officials of Egypt’s Central Administration of Plant Quarantine (CAPQ). The CAPQ provided an overview the organization. They also discussed the current status of Philippine-Egyptian market access negotiations. Usec. Ampatuan stated that he welcomes efforts of both parties to ease and facilitate exchange of commodities and exports. Thereafter, the Philippine delegation visited the Dakahlia Slaughterhouse Co. in 10th Ramadan City where they observed the processing and packing of fresh chicken.

Undersecretary Ampatuan’s visit highlights the ongoing collaboration between the Philippines and Egypt to maintain open exchanges that strengthen trade relations between the two countries.END
