AMB. AVIQUIVIL MEETS WITH GAFI OFFICIALS

12 August 2026 - Ambassador Charmaine Rowena C. Aviquivil met with officials of the Egyptian General Authority for Investment (GAFI) including Undersecretary Mohamed Youssef (Advisor to the GAFI Chairman), Ms. Sahar Ibrahim (Asia Desk Officer), and Mr. Mohamed Sabry (CEO of United Bros. Group).

During the meeting, Amb. Aviquivil and the GAFI officials discussed possible investment activities and action plan to jumpstart the trade and investment relations between the Philippines and Egypt. This comes after the Memorandum of Understanding between GAFI and the Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA) in order to enhance bilateral trade relations was signed by DFA Secretary Ma. Theresa P. Lazaro and Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty on 24 July 2026. END.
