28 February 2026 – The Philippine Embassy in Cairo hosted “Two Nations, One Canvas” in celebration of 2026 National Arts Month , highlighting the enduring friendship between the Philippines and Egypt through the power of art.

During her opening remarks, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., Ms. Crystal Ann S. Dunuan underscored this year’s theme, “Ani ng Sining: Katotohanan at Giting” (“Harvest of the Arts: Truth and Valor”). She emphasized how Philippine arts reflect the Filipino experience—heroism, sacrifice, struggles, aspirations, and triumphs—and how art continues to serve as a medium for truth, courage, and community collaboration.

The event's highlights were focused on visual arts, featuring a lecture on Philippine art delivered by Ms. Ameera Bato, an art graduating student at Helwan University. Participants also enjoyed facilitated activities by Art Café artists Mr. Mohamed Shaaban and Mr. Mohamed Hasan, including Arabic calligraphy and a collaborative community painting inspired by the 80th anniversary of Philippine–Egypt diplomatic relations.

Students from various schools in Cairo, Filipino and Egyptian community members joined the activities, making the final artwork a true symbol of shared creativity and cultural exchange.

The Embassy’s celebration reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Filipino artists and promoting cultural understanding between nations. END
