PHILIPPINE EMBASSY IN EGYPT HOLDS DIPLOMATIC RECEPTION IN CELEBRATION OF THE 127TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE PROCLAMATION OF PHILIPPINE INDEPENDENCE

23 June 2025- The Philippine Embassy in Egypt hosted a diplomatic reception for members of the diplomatic community, international organizations, government officials and other partners to celebrate the 127th Anniversary of the Proclamation of Philippine Independence.
In his opening remarks, Philippine Ambassador to Egypt, Ambassador Ezzedin H. Tago conveyed appreciation for the warm greetings of President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi and Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly.
Ambassador Tago highlighted the significance of the occasion which is to commemorate the courage and sacrifices of Filipino heroes as well as the Philippines’ ongoing work towards progress, peace and prosperity. This is in line with the celebration’s theme of Kalayaan, Kasaysayan, Kinabukasan.
He also expressed deep appreciation for the continued friendship and cooperation between the Philippines and Egypt, highlighting 79 years of diplomatic ties. He acknowledged Egypt’s support during the evacuation of Filipinos from Sudan and Gaza. In agricultural cooperation, the Ambassador noted a key milestone in bilateral trade with new market access for Philippine durian and Egyptian nectarines. Reflecting on mutual respect, shared values and demographic similarities, Ambassador Tago called for deeper collaboration in trade, investment, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. He invited all the attendees to visit the Philippines to experience Filipino hospitality and culture and explore the country’s natural wonders and breathtaking landscapes.
Thereafter, Guest of Honor and representative of the Egyptian government, Minister of Agriculture and Land Reclamation H.E. Alaa El-Din Farouk Zaki, conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to the government and people of the Republic of the Philippines. Minister Zaki affirmed Egypt’s commitment to advancing trade and investment exchanges with the Philippines, sharing knowledge and expertise, and collaborating in international and regional forums. He highlighted the deepening bilateral cooperation in trade, agriculture, and education. He also informed of Egypt's approval to import Philippine durian while seeking reciprocal access for Egyptian produce. He also called for stronger private sector collaboration and reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to regional peace through its 2017 accession to the ASEAN Treaty of Amity and Cooperation.
The program concluded with videos of Philippine tourist sites while guests feasted on Filipino cuisine including adobo, rendang, pastil, lumpia and the popular summer delicacy, halo-halo.END.
