PH EMBASSY WELCOMES PH DELEGATION ATTENDING TRAINING COURSE FOR IMAMS, JUDGES AND LAWYERS

19 January 2026-The Philippine Embassy in Cairo welcomed the Philippine delegation who participated in the “2026 Training Program for Judges, Counselors-at-Law, and Muslim Filipino Imams”. The program was sponsored by the Egyptian Ministry of Endowments.
The Philippine delegation was greeted by Charge d’Affaires Ms. Crystal Ann S. Dunuan during their call at the Embassy. They were joined by representatives from the International Awqaf Academy led by Sheikh Muhammad Magdy Ghoneim Awad, Director General of Training.
During the call, Ms. Dunuan and Vice Consul Bryan B. Fernandez highlighted the Embassy’s services to the Filipino community in Egypt, particularly students and scholars at Al-Azhar University. Meanwhile members of the delegation, who included not only imams, lawyers and judges but also officials from the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM), discussed government programs and opportunities that may benefit overseas Filipinos returning to BARMM.
The visit also served as a platform for meaningful dialogue on enhancing the Shari’ah training program. The Awqaf Academy Director invited feedback from the delegates to improve future training modules, emphasizing the importance of cultural and academic exchange.
The meeting concluded with a shared vision of empowering Shari’ah-trained professionals to return to the Philippines and contribute to Islamic education, justice, and national development. END
