PH EMBASSY RECEIVES SECRETARY OF NCMF, FACILITATES MEETING BETWEEN NCMF AND FILIPINO MUSLIM STUDENTS

22–23 January 2026 - The Philippine Embassy in Egypt received Secretary Sabuddin N. Abdurahim of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos (NCMF) and his delegation during their official visit to Cairo from 22 to 24 January 2026.
On 22 January 2026, Officials from the Ministry of Endowments and Ms. Crystal Ann S. Dunuan, Charge d’Affaires, a.i., welcomed Secretary Abdurahim and delegation at the Cairo International Airport upon their arrival in the early morning.
In the afternoon, Secretary Abdurahim and his team paid a courtesy call to the Embassy, where they were received by Embassy officers and staff led by Vice Consul and Third Secretary Mr. Bryan Fernandez. Vice Consul Fernandez informed the delegation of the Embassy’s mandate, services, and jurisdiction, while also providing an overview of the Filipino community residing in Egypt. Discussions during the meeting highlighted the challenges faced by Filipinos and students in Egypt, including academic and post-study concerns.
Thereafter, the NCMF delegation presented a short video introducing the Commission and its services for Muslim Filipinos in the Philippines, led by Secretary Abdurahim.
The next day, or on 23 January 2026, the Embassy chancery hosted a meeting between the NCMF delegation, Filipino Muslim students, and representatives of the Philippine Students Association in Cairo (PhilSAC). The gathering provided an open forum for students to engage directly with the NCMF leadership and Embassy officials, fostering dialogue on academic experiences, community concerns, and future opportunities for collaboration.
The Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to supporting Filipino students and the wider community in Egypt, while strengthening institutional linkages with the NCMF to advance the welfare of Muslim Filipinos both abroad and in the Philippines.END
