PH AMBASSADOR LEADS 286th ASEAN COMMITTEE MEETING

On 13 September, Ambassador Charmaine Rowena C. Aviquivil led the 286th ASEAN Committee in Cairo (ACC) meeting as Chairperson. The meeting was attended by Heads of the other eight (8) ASEAN missions represented in Cairo including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.


The Committee discussed ACC projects including projects in partnership with local universities and think tanks as well as fellowship activities for the ASEAN community. The Heads of Missions also shared updates on their bilateral engagements with Egypt such as exchange of visits, agreements signed and meetings with counterparts and Egyptian officials.


After the meeting, the ACC welcomed special guests from the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation (MALR) at a dinner hosted by the Cambodian Embassy. Prof. Dr. Saad Moussa, Vice President of the Agricultural Research Center, and Supervisor for International Relations and Agreements, led the delegation from the h

MALR. The ASEAN Ambassadors took the opportunity to exchange views with Prof. Dr. Saad and the MALR representatives on prospects for expanding agricultural cooperation. The discussions focused on agricultural trade and investment, food security, research and technology exchange, and capacity-building opportunities. END.
