PH EMBASSY IN EGYPT COMMEMORATES THE 10TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE 2016 SOUTH CHINA SEA ARBITRAL AWARD

06 July 2026 - The Philippine Embassy in Egypt held a Special Flag Raising Ceremony in commemoration of the 10th Year Anniversary of the 2016 South China Sea Arbitral Award, reaffirming the Philippines' unwavering commitment to the rules-based international order, the peaceful settlement of disputes, and the rule of law as embodied in the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

As part of the ceremony, Consul Crystal Ann S. Dunuan read the message of Secretary Eduardo Oban, Jr., Chair of the National Task Force for the West Philippine Sea (NTF-WPS). Thereafter, Ambassador Charmaine Rowena C. Aviquivil delivered a message recognizing the Government's efforts, including the Department of Foreign Affairs, to achieve the landmark ruling on the South China Sea Arbitration.

The Philippine Embassy joins the Filipino people in commemorating this important milestone and reaffirms its commitment to promoting greater awareness of the significance of the Arbitral Award and the Philippines' continued advocacy for a rules-based international order, freedom of navigation, and the peaceful resolution of disputes.
