PH EMBASSY CELEBRATES 2026 FILIPINO FOOD MONTH IN CAIRO

30 April 2026 – The Philippine Embassy in Cairo celebrated Filipino Food Month with food tasting, workshop, live music, and a mini sari-sari store experience at the Naseem Community Hub in Maadi, Cairo.
Chargé d'affaires, a.i. Ms. Crystal Ann S. Dunuan welcomed guests, highlighting Filipino cuisine's rich diversity and community spirit. She noted that most of the attendees were from the Egyptian food industry. She invited them to try Filipino food and looked forward to future collaborations. The guests were composed of members of the Egyptian Chef's Association, chefs from various hotel restaurants, culinary students and cultural enthusiasts.
The event featured a cultural booth in the form of a sari-sari store and culinary workshops on palitaw and spring rolls conducted by Filipino home cooks Ms. Ritche Garcia and Ms. Mary Anne Uy. The guests also sampled Filipino street food as well as a variety of bakery items like butchi, pan de sal, and pan de coco from @Tinapay Restaurant. Ms. Felomila "Kim" Sowter serenaded the attendees with OPM songs followed by a performance by Ms. Yara Mapandi.
Vice Consul Mr. Bryan Fernandez delivered the closing remarks, thanking guests, cooks and performers for their active participation in the Embassy's celebration of 2026 Filipino Food Month. END
