ASEAN COMMITTEE IN CAIRO CELEBRATES ASEAN DAY WITH FLAG RAISING CEREMONY

20 August 2025- The Philippine Embassy, led by Second Secretary and Consul Crystal Ann S. Dunuan joined other ASEAN Missions in Cairo for a flag raising ceremony to commemorate the celebration of ASEAN Day at the premises of the Embassy of Indonesia. This year is the 58TH anniversary of the foundation of ASEAN under the Chairmanship of Malaysia.  In 2026, the Philippines will assume the ASEAN Chairship.

At the ceremony were Heads of Missions and representatives of the nine (9) ASEAN Missions present in Cairo, including Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam, together with Ms. Sherine El-Shahawy, Counselor, representing the Institute for Diplomatic Studies.

Delicacies from the member countries of ASEAN were served including Filipino food such as ube yema roll and arroz caldo.END
