As we observe the 18-Day Campaign to End Violence Against Women (VAW), let us take time to understand these different forms of abuse.

Violence Against Women (VAW) comes in many forms:

-Physical Violence

-Sexual Violence

-Psychological Violence

-Economic Abuse

🔴 Physical Violence – Acts that cause bodily pain, discomfort, or injury such as assault, slapping, hair-pulling, choking, or poisoning.

🟣 Sexual Violence – Any sexual activity without consent, including rape, groping, sexual exploitation, stalking, or spreading sexual content.

🟡 Psychological Violence – Emotional or mental abuse like threats, name-calling, bullying, gaslighting, social isolation, or public humiliation.

🟢 Economic Abuse – Refers to behaviors that aim to make a woman financially dependent by limiting her access to resources and autonomy. This includes restricting financial knowledge, controlling or denying access to money, preventing her from making financial decisions, opening accounts under a partner’s name, stealing or selling property without consent, taking her wages or financial aid, interfering with her work or education, and refusing to share childcare responsibilities.
