ADVISORY TO ALL FILIPINOS IN EGYPT ON MINISTERIAL DECREE 3326-2023

As per Decree No. 3326/2023 issued by Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly on 29 August 2023, all foreigners living illegally in Egypt are given a grace period of three (3) months from 13 September 2023 to legalize their status. (See attached original Decree and its unofficial English translation for details)

The Philippine Embassy in Cairo is currently verifying more information, procedures and other implementing regulations of this decree with the General Administration of Passports, Immigration and Nationality of the Egyptian Ministry of Interior and other relevant government offices. Updates and additional information on this matter will be published eventually.

The Embassy however reiterates that without official announcements amending existing laws, all Filipinos in Egypt must continue to observe the following:

1. All foreign workers in Egypt must obtain work permits and licenses from the Ministry of Manpower and its affiliated offices.

2. There are no work visas and permits being issued to foreigners who wish to work as household workers (or kasambahay) in Egypt.

3. It is the responsibility of your Egyptian spouse to help you (and your children) acquire Egyptian residence visas, marriage (and birth) certificates, and IDs.

Remember: you must always have your valid passport in your possession. Your employer and/or sponsor should not keep your passport for any reason.
